Semiramis Hotel Bombing

What remained of the Semiramis Hotel in the Katamon district of Jerusalem was bombed on the night of 5-6 January, 1948. The explosion killed 24 Palestinian civilians, including seven members of the Christian family Aboussuan and Hubert Lorenzo, the 23-year-old son of the proprietor and Spanish vice-consul, Manuel Allende Salazar. The British Authorities denounced the attack as the “wholesale murder of innocent civilians”

Today a Jewish family has taken over the property of what used to be Samirames Hotel “a Palestinian-owned hotel”.
